Recent research has shown that sun exposure can lead to weight loss only under certain circumstances, which are well defined. UV triggers the secretion of some hormones belonging to the pineal gland.

These hormones contribute to dissolving fats in the tissues located under the skin. In order to be efficient from the secretion and their effect point of view, theses hormones require a specific schedule for sunbathing during the summer. The efficiency of quick weight loss through these hormones depends on alimentation and sleep time. Therefore, it is a nice idea to believe that you go to the beach to lose weight. It sounds funny.

In order to get good results you should avoid UV during the first 70 – 80 minutes after sunrise. Then you cannot lose weight, but on the contrary, in the case of 65% of the women and 70% of the men they trigger putting on weight tendencies.

If you want to lose weight with the help of the sun, do not consume sweet drinks during the first three hours after sunrise. They contain sweeteners, which through taste stimulation decrease some hormones secretion. Avoid fizzy drinks when you go to the beach and you can try an original method of losing weight.

Asbestos is a hard substance that was earlier used in the construction of the ships in the ship building sites. However due to its strength and its resistance for heat and sun it was incorporated to be used in the houses as a part of the roof. In earlier days however no detailed research was done so as to check for the pros and cons as well as the safety in using the asbestos as a part of the house roofs. The outcome of a small mistake is a disaster, which is affecting thousands of people across the world. The asbestos when used in the roofs morphs and breaks down into small particles of asbestos. These particles are of microscopic dimensions and cannot be seen with the naked eye. However those who are living beneath the asbestos roofs have found to have a typical and peculiar problem of uncontrolled growth of the cells in the lungs which also causes the breathing disorders. This disease that causes the uncontrolled multiplication of the cells in the lungs is known as Mesothelioma.

There are a number of Mesothelioma attorneys, which are bodies which are setup by the government as well as some private helpers so as to resolve the issues faced by those who are affected by the problem of mesothelioma. The Mesothelioma lawyers lend total support in filing the case and bringing the problem to the concerned department so that those who are suffering by this problem may get some relief in terms of the financial aid.

Illinois mesothelioma lawyers are dedicated to help the sufferers in Illinois who are staying under the asbestos and are facing the problem of mesothelioma. There are many such Illinois mesothelioma lawyers who are ready to provide ample information so that those who are suffering from the disease may get a suitable solution.

Childhood is the most beautiful and careless age of whoever’s life but could it be disturbed by external factors? Nowadays’ living shows that there are several reasons of feeling unhappy and unprotected even for children. One of the most dangerous illnesses at which children are exposed to is juvenile diabetes.

You may wonder: ‘So, what should we do for our children to make their existence easier in spite of their illness?’

Firstly, we suggest you not to terrify your children by reminding them all the time that they are ill. It just doesn’t help at anything! Of course that you must take care of him or her, but don’t exaggerate! Even though they are ill, children can undertake physical actions adequate to their age, like volleyball, handball, basketball, football, tennis, cycling, jogging and dancing. These exercises will not only improve their physical conditions and entertain them, but will also help them psychically. Physical effort is part of the juvenile diabetes’ therapy, after the diet and insulin treatment. These exercises should be regularly and progressive practiced, thinking about their duration and force, but they must have a doctor’s supervision. However, sports like swimming, climbing, diving and even lonely sailing should be avoided, because they have a great risk of hypoglycemia.

Furthermore, sweets should be considerably reduced from their alimentation and fruits and vegetables can replace them. A special diet is, however in almost all cases, the best solution for somebody who suffers from juvenile diabetes. This diet could contain: dried fruits, integral bread, pasta, maize meal and oatmeal, rice, certain fruits and vitamins A and E.

Insulin injections must have a well specified place in a children suffering from juvenile diabetes life. The amount of insulin should be diminished and the ratio of glucoses could be limited only to physical activities practice. But exercises have a very important role and they are an essential help for a specific diet if constantly practiced.

What can we tell you about their education and future plans concerning their professional orientation? Well, they can have a normal life when attending classes with the main condition of being supported by his or her classmates and teachers. On the other hand, the professions involving work in a high temperature, loud noise, permanent nervous straining should be avoided.

All in all, even if they suffer from juvenile diabetes, children should be supported to have a normal existence. Eventually, childhood could be the most charming age for everyone!

Diabetes Prevention

It is often said that it is better to prevent an illness than to cure it. However, most of us are used to have a restful life, enjoying any kind of food we like, living every new experience that we think it is worthy to, or, on the other hand, we get stressed every day trying to be in fashion or working very hard. And, what is worse is that when we get sick, we are sure that ‘it will pass’. But our sickness turns to be actually an illness and when discovering that our life is in danger, we stare to complain and wonder: ‘Why is this happening to me?’ Well, we should really pay more attention to our everyday living.

Diabetes have extended rapidly nowadays among people of any age, and we can easily conclude that the welfare does not suit us very well. So, how can we avoid being ill? Well, diabetes is often associated with the increasing cholesterol level and the vegetarian diet awards protection against this action. Vegetarian diets promote a complex of carbohydrates and fibers, which has a beneficial effect upon metabolism because it diminishes the level of glucoses in blood.

Moreover, the amount of sweets shouldn’t be very high, because fruits can replace most of them and in the same time they prove to be healthier. A balanced alimentation has to be set up in our lives so that we’ll be protected against external disturbing factors.

Moreover, daily exercises shouldn’t be neglected. Our body needs fresh air and physical effort. By doing this, we won’t have just a healthy body, but also a clear mind. What’s more is that we can have great entertainment when meeting other people and playing while keeping us far away from suffering of diabetes.

And last but not least; we shouldn’t get stressed too much. A great fright could also increase the level of glucoses in our blood, and it is known that this is one of the main causes of being ill of diabetes.

Consequently, don’t worry anymore! Diabetes prevention is better than fighting against it. Supervise your alimentation, manner of living and emotions- and you’ll be more than pleased to enjoy your healthy life!

What is diabetes?

Diabetes occurs when the sugar level in your blood is higher than a normal value. Excessive sugar in blood is harmful for health. Sugar in your blood comes from digestion. In order to get to the cells where it is used as fuel, glucose needs insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Diabetes occurs because of insufficient insulin from the pancreas or because of cellular lack of sensibility to insulin. In both cases glucose level in blood exceeds normal values.

Normal Latent diabetes Diabetes
Sugar level in blood without eating 70-110 mg/dl >111 and < 126 mg/dl More than 126 mg/dl
Sugar level in blood provoked (at 2 hours after ingesting 75 g glucose) < 140 mg/dl >140 si < 200 mg/dl Over 200 mg/dlDiabetes symptoms

Diabetes signs and symptoms:

  • Excessive thirst
  • Frequent urinating
  • Hunger or exaggerated tiredness
  • Weight loss without a reason
  • Slow recovery of wounds
  • Dry skin, with itching sensation
  • Loss of sensibility at the feet level
  • Sight problems

There are more types of diabetes, but two of them are more popular:

  1. Diabetes, type I, juvenile or which is dependent on insulin, and which occurs in the case of children or young people. It is considered an auto immune disease, in which the immune system attacks cells which produce insulin from the pancreas and it can’t produce enough insulin any more. These patients often need insulin for the rest of their lives.
  1. Diabetes, type II, which is a disease specific to adults and which does not mean treatment with insulin. It usually occurs in the case of people older than 40 and it is the most popular type (90-95% of the total). In the case of these people, the pancreas produces insulin, but the organism can’t use it efficiently. The result is glucose accumulation in the blood. Type II diabetes occurs in 80% of the situations in the case of overweight people. Recent data have established that it means cells resistance to insulin action provoked by excessive consumption of animal fats.

The best solution in the case of the second type of diabetes is a diet recommended by your doctor.

Diabetes and Pregnancy

Posted September 8th, 2007 by
Categories: Diabetes Information

Diabetes during pregnancy is also called gestational diabetes which sometimes develops late in pregnancy. Insulin is a hormone that enables the body to break down sugar to be used as energy. Without sufficient insulin the amount of sugar in the blood rises.  This form of diabetes usually disappears after the birth of the baby, but women who have had gestational diabetes stand a 20 to 50 percent chance of developing type II diabetes. Pregnancy hormones or a shortage of insulin causes gestational diabetes and may not show any symptoms.

Glucose levels in pregnant women can diagnose gestational diabetes as glucose levels are lower during pregnancy. Blood glucose levels are measured before a woman drinks a beverage containing glucose. After that levels are checked 1, 2, and 3 hours. A woman has gestational diabetes if two blood glucose levels meet or exceed certain number.

The cause of gestational diabetes can be the hormones produced during pregnancy that block the action of insulin. The mother’s body then cannot produce enough extra insulin to counteract this blocking effect.

Women are more at risk if they:

  • they have a history of type II diabetes
  • are over the age of 35
  • are obese
  • have previously given birth to a large baby
  • have previously given birth to an abnormal baby
  • have previously had a stillbirth late in pregnancy

The effect of gestational diabetes on the fetus during pregnancy is that high blood sugar can cause the baby to grow larger, which can lead to difficult delivery and injuries to both mother and baby during birth.

Treatment involves regular testing of blood sugar, a planned diet and sufficient exercise.

Cinnamon Diabetes

Posted August 31st, 2007 by
Categories: Diabetes Information

The body has a mechanism – cells, breaking down glucose which we don’t use. Cells lose their ability to respond to insulin helping to break down the glucose in type II diabetes. That is the hormone that tells the body to remove excess glucose in the bloodstream. Symptoms like weight-loss, tiredness and blurred vision occur when glucose builds up in the bloodstream. Blindness, heart diseases and premature death occur in extreme cases.

Preventing the mentioned symptoms of type II diabetes, researchers found that cinnamon can help to restore fat cells so that it can respond to insulin for the removal of increased glucose. The substance in cinnamon responsible for this is MHCP. Successful research had already been done on mice where it helped their glucose levels to fall dramatically. This year research started on human beings. With research still on in human beings researchers recommend that those with type II diabetes take one quarter to a full teaspoon of cinnamon every day. Those taking cinnamon as a supplement can already testify of an improvement in their health.

Cinnamon is also popular for energy from which diabetics as well as non-diabetics can benefit. A quarter to a full teaspoon cinnamon in milkshakes or juices per day is prescribed for type II diabetics.

Another feature of cinnamon is its richness in magnesium. Bone density electrolyte balance and enzyme functions all depend on magnesium. Loss thereof as one grows older can be taken in again through cinnamon. It also restores glucose or insulin imbalances.

Type II diabetics develop round about middle-age and prematurely kills millions of people all over the world every year. The glucose that builds up also leads to very high cholesterol levels which is the major cause of heart attacks and heart diseases. Cinnamon’s MHCP ingredients help to control these levels.

As cinnamon is an inexpensive, readily available spice in food stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets it seems as if research wants to have that there is a new cure to an old illness.

Diabetics should consult, or at least inform their doctor before they start taking cinnamon because it may affect their medication requirements.

Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is treated mainly by two factors: by medication and by diet. Irrespective of the medication chosen in your case, you must be preoccupied to have an optimal weight. There are people who, at the beginning lose a lot of weight. They are thin, skinny, and they appear to be always ill. They are rare cases. Most often diabetes appears in the case of people who are too fat.

Treatment of type 2 diabetes

In the case of type 2 diabetes, after a meal, the insulin secretion is slow and insufficient, and it determines an exaggerated and extended growth of sugar level. In some cases these problems can be solved without medication, only through diet. In most of the cases the treatment of type 2 diabetes consists in taking pills, associated with diet and physical exercise. Oral treatment is efficient as long as the pancreas secretes insulin. In time, in the case of some patients it becomes inefficient and the only optimal treatment is insulin.

Oral treatment in the case of type 2 diabetes

Pills used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes can be divided in more groups:

- Based on sulfonylurea

- The first substance in a new class of oral medication against diabetes: lunch sugar level regulators.

They stimulate the insulin secretion by the pancreas during short periods, thus protecting the pancreatic cell against overcharge. Medication based on sulfonylurea has as main effect the pancreas stimulation in order to produce more insulin. There are some pills, too which increase the absorption of glucose by the cells.

Treatment with insulin in type 2 diabetes

Treatment with insulin remains the last hope when diet, physical exercise and oral therapy don’t succeed to assure an acceptable control of sugar level. Treatment with insulin will determine a general improvement of metabolism, with normal values of sugar level and fats, a better mood, from the physical and psychical point of view, preventing diabetes subsequent complications. A lot of persons suffering from type 2 diabetes are afraid of the change from pills to insulin and they are worried by the fact that they must inject insulin themselves. Modern injection devices permit a safer insulin injection, so that more people accept the treatment with insulin now.
